Overview of Clinical Services

(I) Scope of Practice: Our department provides comprehensive rehabilitation services covering general rehabilitation, cognitive disorders, speech disorders, articulation disorders, swallowing disorders, respiratory and critical care rehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation, and more.

(II) Services Offered

1. Neurological Rehabilitation

We provide comprehensive rehabilitation treatment for patients suffering from neurological conditions such as stroke and traumatic brain injury. Employing internationally advanced rehabilitation concepts and techniques, we assist patients in recovering muscle strength, balance and coordination, speech function, and swallowing function. Additionally, we conduct cognitive rehabilitation training to enhance patients' cognitive function and improve their quality of life.

2. Orthopedic Rehabilitation

We provide comprehensive rehabilitation treatment for patients with orthopedic conditions, including fractures and joint replacements. We utilize advanced rehabilitation techniques - such as joint mobilization, shockwave therapy, and other physical therapies - to help patients alleviate pain and restore joint range of motion and muscle strength. Furthermore, we formulate personalized rehabilitation plans tailored to each patient's specific condition, ensuring the provision of comprehensive orthopedic rehabilitation services.

3. Endocrine Rehabilitation

We provide comprehensive rehabilitation treatment for patients with endocrine disorders, such as diabetes and thyroid diseases. We employ an integrated approach combining Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western medicine - including techniques such as acupoint massage and moxibustion - to help patients regulate endocrine function and alleviate symptoms. Moreover, we develop personalized rehabilitation plans based on each patient's specific circumstances, delivering comprehensive endocrine rehabilitation services.

4. Cardiac Rehabilitation

Our department collaborates closely with Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Critical Care Medicine, and Emergency ICUs to initiate cardiac rehabilitation. We conduct regular multidisciplinary team consultations to formulate comprehensive rehabilitation assessment and treatment plans. We have established systematic assessment and treatment protocols for various cardiovascular conditions - including Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), Myocardial Infarction (MI), post-stent placement, post-coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), and chronic heart failure. By providing bedside care and intervening early - starting during the acute critical phase - we address the effects of prolonged bed rest, enhance cardiac and respiratory function through targeted training, and reinforce airway clearance techniques. Furthermore, we provide guidance on energy-conservation techniques, implement 24-hour rehabilitation management, facilitate a prompt return to daily living activities, prevent the aggravation or recurrence of cardiac disease, and ultimately improve patients' quality of life.

5. Respiratory and Critical Care Rehabilitation

In collaboration with other clinical departments, our team extends its services into various Intensive Care Units (ICUs) to initiate critical care rehabilitation. We develop tailored rehabilitation assessment and treatment plans, utilizing systematic protocols designed for the acute critical phases of a wide range of conditions - including respiratory diseases, cardiac conditions, and post-surgical states. By delivering bedside rehabilitation with early intervention - commencing during the acute critical phase - we address the physical deconditioning associated with bed rest; enhance cardiac and respiratory function through specialized training; reinforce airway clearance; prevent aspiration pneumonia; and facilitate early ventilator weaning. By working in concert with clinical medical treatments, we aim to improve the patient's overall physical status, stabilize their condition, minimize complications, manage comorbidities, and facilitate a safe and timely transition to a general ward.

6. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

The primary functions and therapeutic benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy include alleviating tissue hypoxia, treating a variety of medical conditions, and promoting tissue regeneration. It is strongly recommended that this therapy be administered under the direct supervision of a physician. Indications for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: It is indicated for diabetic patients suffering from lower extremity or foot infections that have failed to heal despite standard medical treatment. Additionally, it is indicated for acute carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness, cyanide poisoning, replantation of severed digits or limbs, necrotizing enterocolitis, acute cerebral edema, and idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss. Contraindications for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: The therapy is contraindicated in cases of untreated pneumothorax, mediastinal emphysema, pulmonary bullae, active hemorrhage or hemorrhagic disorders, and pulmonary tuberculosis accompanied by hemoptysis (coughing up blood). Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is also contraindicated in patients presenting with high fever, schizophrenia, second-degree Type II or higher atrioventricular block, or severe bradycardia.

(III) Outpatient services routinely offer postpartum rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation, psychological counseling, specialized clinics for neck, shoulder, back, and leg pain, and more:

1. Postpartum Rehabilitation

Primarily targets women within 6 weeks to 1 year postpartum who present with pelvic floor dysfunction (such as stress urinary incontinence/urine leakage, mild pelvic organ prolapse, etc.), reduced strength and endurance in the core muscles of the lower back, abdomen, and pelvic floor, musculoskeletal dysfunction (including neck and lower back pain, "Mommy Thumb" [De Quervain's tenosynovitis], and pain in the pelvis, hips, or knees), anterior pelvic tilt, postural abnormalities, diastasis recti abdominis, "Mommy Tummy," and those seeking postpartum exercise recovery. We provide professional assessments and guidance on rehabilitation training tailored to these specific needs.

2. Pediatric Rehabilitation

Primarily targets pediatric patients with cerebral palsy, psychomotor developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder, and ADHD - particularly those with co-occurring cognitive, speech, or swallowing impairments. Through systematic rehabilitation assessments and training - combined with guidance for families on home-based training regimens - we comprehensively improve the patient's functional capabilities across cognitive/intellectual, linguistic, swallowing, and motor domains. Our goal is to promote the child's overall development, from cognitive to motor skills, and to facilitate their integration into daily life as well as collective/school environments to the greatest extent possible.

3. Psychological Counseling

Psychological counseling services are available to a diverse range of individuals, including special populations (such as patients with mental illnesses who have achieved clinical remission or are in a latent phase), the general healthy population (including individuals with normal mental health or those experiencing minor psychological distress related to issues such as adolescent adjustment or interpersonal relationships), and individuals who are mentally sound but are experiencing psychological difficulties and are actively seeking assistance (e.g., those seeking developmental counseling, guidance on career or educational choices, marital issues, or social adjustment - situations requiring informed decision-making to navigate life's transitions successfully). Primarily, the focus of psychological counseling lies with healthy individuals or those in a sub-healthy state experiencing psychological distress - rather than the "pathological population" (such as those with mania or schizophrenia) who are typically the domain of psychiatrists and often require medical intervention. The scope of psychological counseling centers on the various issues encountered by ordinary people in their daily lives. These include interpersonal relationship difficulties, career choices, educational challenges, marital and family conflicts, and emotional disturbances - such as depression, irritability, anger, or even suicidal ideation - that arise when individuals struggle to cope with changes in circumstances (e.g., physical illness or accidental injury). It also addresses issues specific to young adults, such as dating and marriage, child-rearing, and the psychological and educational needs of children at various stages of development. Counseling methods are tailored to each individual's specific needs. Foremost among our professional ethical standards is the respect shown to every client and a strict adherence to the principle of confidentiality; no information may be disclosed to any third party - including family members or partners - without the client's explicit consent.

4. Rehabilitation for Neck, Shoulder, Lower Back, and Leg Pain

We address pain in the neck, shoulders, lower back, and legs resulting from various causes: age-related degenerative conditions, sports injuries in young and middle-aged adults, and occupational ailments or postural issues stemming from daily work, study, or lifestyle habits. Through professional rehabilitation guidance, necessary equipment-assisted therapies, and active rehabilitation techniques - combined with consistent, self-directed care - restoring your natural vitality is well within reach.
