Department Overview
The Department of Gastroenterology comprises the Inpatient Ward, the Outpatient Clinic, and the Endoscopy Center.
Inpatient Ward
The ward has an authorized capacity of 20 beds, all of which are currently operational. The medical staff consists of 14 individuals: 5 physicians (including 2 with senior professional titles, 2 attending physicians, and 1 assistant physician) and 9 nurses.
Outpatient Clinic
The clinic is staffed by highly experienced gastroenterology specialists. In active compliance with the hospital's "no-holiday hospital" policy, physicians are scheduled to provide consultations every day of the week.
Endoscopy Center
The center currently employs 6 medical professionals, including 1 Chief Physician in Endoscopy, 1 Attending Physician, 1 Resident Physician, and 4 Endoscopy Nurses.

Services Offered by the Endoscopy Center
Gastroscopy: Used to examine lesions in the upper digestive tract - including the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum - such as ulcers, inflammation, and tumors.
Colonoscopy: Used to examine lesions in the colon and rectum, such as polyps, inflammation, and tumors. It also assists physicians in diagnosing colonic diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer. Furthermore, it serves a preventive role - specifically in screening for colon cancer - enabling early detection and treatment, which significantly improves cure and survival rates.
Duodenoscopy: Primarily used to diagnose and treat diseases of the duodenum, biliary tract, and pancreas - including gallstones, biliary tumors, inflammatory biliary strictures, biliary ascariasis, acute pancreatitis, and pancreatic cysts.
Endoscopic Mucosal Staining and NBI (Narrow-Band Imaging): These techniques are employed to screen the esophageal and gastric mucosa for early-stage cancers, facilitating early detection and prompt treatment.
Bronchoscopy: Used to examine lesions within the respiratory tract - specifically the bronchi and lungs - such as lung cancer and infections.
Endoscopic Therapeutic Procedures: Planned therapeutic services include endoscopic ligation, sclerotherapy, and devascularization for esophageal and gastric fundal varices; sclerotherapy and ligation for internal hemorrhoids; Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) for gastric and colonic adenomas; and Argon Plasma Coagulation (APC) for gastric and colonic polyps.
Diagnostic Testing: Includes the Carbon Breath Test for Helicobacter pylori detection, which confirms the presence or absence of infection and guides clinical treatment strategies.

The Endoscopy Center is equipped with the latest ¹³C Urea Breath Test system, which is minimally invasive to the human body and has a negligible environmental impact. Additionally, the center features advanced endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, including state-of-the-art electronic gastrointestinal endoscopes, comprehensive endoscopic disinfection equipment and monitoring protocols, and auxiliary therapeutic devices such as high-frequency electrosurgical units.
